Questions, corrections, and criticism are all welcome. DIY Damp is run by one person, so replies are not instant — but real emails do get real answers.
Expect a reply within a few days. If you do not hear back within a week, it did not arrive — send it again.
Good things to email about
- Corrections. If something here is wrong, out of date, or misleading, this is the most useful email you can send. Point at the page and tell us what is off.
- Gaps. A damp question you could not find a straight answer to anywhere. These often become articles.
- Source suggestions. Research or official guidance we should be citing.
- Reuse permission. If you want to quote or republish something.
Things we cannot help with
We want to be straight with you rather than waste your time:
- We cannot diagnose your basement by email. Damp is site-specific and photographs hide more than they show. A local inspection will beat any remote guess.
- We cannot give medical advice. If you think damp or mould is affecting your health, that is a conversation for a doctor, not a website.
- We do not recommend specific contractors and we do not accept payment to do so. Our questions to ask a specialist guide is written so you can judge one yourself.
- We do not sell guest posts, links, or sponsored placements. Please do not pitch them.
Urgent problems
Standing water near electrical circuits, sewage backup, a sudden structural crack, or a gas smell are emergencies. Contact a licensed electrician, plumber, structural engineer, or your utility — not a website.
