Privacy Policy

This policy explains what DIY Damp collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to diydamp.com.

The short version

We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. We collect anonymous analytics to see which articles are useful, and we store what you type into a comment form. That is essentially it.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how pages are used — pages viewed, approximate region, device type, referring site, and how far down a page people read. Microsoft Clarity also records anonymised interaction data such as clicks and scrolling. This is not used to identify you personally.

Search Console. Google Search Console reports which search queries lead to the site. This data is aggregated and contains no personal identifiers.

Comments. If you leave a comment we store the name, email address, and any website you enter, along with your IP address and browser user agent. Comments may be checked for spam. Your email address is not published and is not used for marketing.

Email. If you email us, we keep that email so we can reply and so we can act on corrections. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Server logs. Our host and CDN keep standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies

Analytics services set cookies to distinguish repeat visits. WordPress sets a cookie if you choose to save your details when commenting. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site will still work.

Third parties we use

  • Google — Analytics, Search Console, Site Kit (privacy policy)
  • Microsoft — Clarity analytics (privacy statement)
  • Cloudflare — content delivery and security
  • Hostinger — web hosting

How long we keep things

Comments are kept indefinitely so conversations stay readable, unless you ask us to remove them. Analytics data follows each provider’s retention settings. Emails are kept while they are useful for correspondence and corrections.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — in particular under GDPR in the UK and EU, and the CCPA in California — you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We do not sell personal information to anyone, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

To make a request, email umar.bwn@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new last-updated date.
